 George T. Payne

December 25, 1925-June 20, 2014

Born in Portland, TN;  passed away in Elk Grove, CA at the age of 88 due to complications from pneumonia. Respected father, grand father and great grandfather. Served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the early years of the cold war. He later became an accomplished machinist, participating in the development of the landing gear system for the Boeing 747 while at Western Gear Corporation. He was also a quality control inspector at Aerojet in Rancho Cordova, CA during the Apollo moon landing program and several other high profile defense contracts. In semi-retirement, he was executive vice president of marketing for Bel-Air Studios, then later with Aerial Views photography, receiving multiple awards. George was always determined to finish what he started to the best of his ability and excelled in every business endeavor he ventured into. He will be sorely missed. Survived by sons Stacey, Tracey and Barry, five grand children and six great grand children. Public viewing Thursday, June 26 2014 4pm-8pm at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Ln., Sacramento, CA
