George William (Okie) Myers was born Dec. 24, 1920 in Hillsborough, OK. He passed away peacefully on February 29, 2012 of complications due to old age. He was predeceased in death by his parents George & Leora Myers, his wife Anita Motes Myers and his brother Vernon Myers. He is survived by his daughter Celeste Schleimer (John) granddaughters Lori McGuire, Shari McHugh (Gavin) step-granddaughter Krystol Stemm (Terry) and 6 great grandchildren Paige, Ryleigh, Braden, Faith, Jack and Nolan. He is also survived by stepson David Motes (Charlene), sister Virginia Van Epps, brother Dean Myers (Wilma), former wife Naomi Myers and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
George enjoyed a life full of fun, family, golf and horseracing. He had 4 holes in one and was named golfer of the year by the Sacramento Golf Council in 1976 for winning six tournaments from 1967-1976. He was Land Park champion several times and state fair champion. He played golf almost every day until his health prohibited him from doing so in his later years.
He worked 35 years at the Southern Pacific Railroad as a Journeyman Machinist and served in several capacities in union activities and leadership at the railroad.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Sat. March 10 at 10:30am. Private interment at East Lawn Cemetery.
