Fredrick John Steinkamp

Passed away on November 18, 2013, at 99 years of age. Fred was born in Norma, South Dakota on April 27, 1914 to Daniel and Emma (Streech) Steinkamp, and moved to North Sacramento with his family in 1919. He attended Robla Grammar School and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1932. Fred married Ann Willey on June 24, 1939. They were married 68 years until her death in 2007. They lived in the Woodlake area from 1941 until this year when he moved to Lander, Wyoming to be with family. He is survived by his son, Paul (Claudia), grandchildren, Justin (Annise), Jeremy, Jennie, (Carlos) and great grandchildren Calliope and Camille Steinkamp, as well as many nieces and nephews. Fred served in the Army during World War II, and worked for the Bank of America for over 40 years. He was a member of the Sacramento County School Board, and a member of the American River Flood Control District. Fred and Ann loved to travel, visiting many countries around the world. He was a long time member of the Scottish Rite, receiving his 33rd degree, and Past Master of the Harding San Juan Lodge 579. He will be missed by family, friends and neighbors. The family invites you to attend a memorial reception on Saturday, December 14, 2013 beginning at 2:00 PM at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 6151 H Street, Sacramento.
