Dec 5, 1934 - Sep 12, 2022

Eva D. Glass was born in 1934 to parents Willie and Luella Jackson in Vicksburg, Mississippi. In 1943, her parents moved the family to California. Sadly, her mother passed shortly after they arrived. Eva and her siblings were raised by their father, on South 24th Street in Richmond, CA.
Eva earned her high school diploma from El Cerrito High. She continued her education and received an AA Degree in Business Administration from Contra Costa College. While there, she met and married Maurice Glass. From their loving union, they had four children, Cynthia, Maurice Jr.
(Vince), Steven and Rosalyn. Together, they purchased a home in the Sobrante Park neighborhood in Oakland, CA, where she lived for the next 40 years.
Eva’s career began working at a local doctor’s office, from there, Eva excelled as a secretary and worked for a local nonprofit. Eva participated in civil rights marches and assisted her community as needed. Eva also worked for the State of CA for many years as an Employment Development Specialist. Eva was especially proud of working in the EDD (PIC) office helping many youth find employment, including her children.
Eva loved to entertain, she had many fish fry’s and card parties with her family. She loved going fishing and to the racetrack. She loved horses and elephants. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays. She bought extra gifts at Christmas and made sure that she had a gift for every guest that came to her home.
Eva and her daughter Cynthia relocated to Sacramento, Ca in the early 2000°s. Eva was very active and continued to reinvent herself. She never sat still. She ran a successful jewelry business and created her own hair care ointment. Eva was an excellent cook, seamstress and also enjoyed painting and gardening. She loved to prepare fresh baked bread and fresh vegetables from her garden. Eva was truly a confident, wise, strong, creative soul. Make no mistake, Eva was a boss. In her later years, Eva was dedicated to posting her daily quotes on Facebook to encourage family and friends.
On any given evening, Eva could be found sitting in her favorite chair watching Steve Harvey show and Family Feud with her great grandson Moe Moe nearby.
