Eugene Robinson passed away peacefully in his home on March 26. Born September 3, 1930 in Austell, Ga to Murry and Bessie Robinson, he was nicknamed “Jackpot” for his touchdown scoring prowess on the football field.
Born a child of the South who picked cotton as a boy, he grew into a man who saw the world. Eugene was an Army and Air Force veteran of 24 years. He loved his Yankees and Raiders, but his greatest loves were his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family.
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Olivia and granddaughter Vanessa. He is survived by children Ramona Hicks of Decatur, Ga; Eugene Robinson, Jr., of Chandler, Az; Regina Stewart and Rodney Robinson of Rancho Cordova, Ca. Eugene is also survived by siblings Richard Robinson of Sacramento, Ca, Mary Stallworth of Pomona, Ca; Barbara Woods of Riverside, Ca; eleven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Eugene’s life will be held today at 11am at the Center of Praise Cathedral, 23rd and Capitol, in Sacramento.
