Eugene Gilbert Frink

Passed away in Sacramento on January 15, 2016 at the age of 80. Surrounded by his loving family at his side, Gene finally succumbed to his courageous battle of fighting cancer. His strong will to live was seen by us all during the past 21 months. He leaves behind a family of broken hearts. His loving wife Shelby, of 61 years. His daughters, Debbie (John) Mayfield, Cheri (Steve) Walker, and preceded in death by his daughter Shelley Hearth along with his sister Judith Dorraugh. He was Poppy to his grandchildren Janna (Perry) Jones, Vanessa Walker, Timothy Hearth and Richele Hearth. He leaves behind two great grandchildren, Ava and Ian Jones. He is also survived by his sister Glenelyn Hurst of Sacramento and his brother in-law Mike Dorraugh of Volcano, CA. Gene was born to his parents Glenn and Marguerite Frink in Auburn, CA and then moved to Sacramento as a child with his parents. He graduated from Grant High School, where he met and married the love of his life, Shelby. He was proud to be a student that had never missed a day of school from the time he started in Kindergarten until the day he left high school. Gene worked in the construction business in Sacramento, overseeing many development projects of both residential and commercial, as well as overseeing The Swing at Cancer Golf Tournaments and the beginning of the Senior Golf Tour. He was the financial officer for the Sharing Place at Sutter Memorial Hospital and participated in both the construction of the building and its operations. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time on his houseboat at Lake Oroville. He was a baseball player in high school and was a lifetime sports fan to the end. He cherished his family and loved spending his time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.     Sorry to hear of Eugene’s passing. He was a caring man and a good fishing friend.Debra and I are about the same age, and were friends.We were about fifteen. She my or my not remember me.My step-father.Joe Tabbarracci at the time.Went on some camping/ fishing trips.I still have pictures of Debbie and my self,from those trips.I had a thing for Debbie.A real crush.I hope the hole family is doing fine and I wish you all well.I not in California any more .
