Obituary

Ernest C. Winfree (Ernie), 74, of Fair Oaks passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015.

He was born in Jerome, Idaho, on March 6, 1940, to the late Etha and Ernest Winfree. Ernie graduated from Shasta High School in 1959. He married Donna Wiley, his High School Sweet Heart on May 2, 1959.

Ernie began his career with the Singer Company in 1966. After much traveling for work and being away from home he and his wife, Donna decided to open their own business: E & D Sewing. They had 8 stores throughout the Sacramento and Reno area – after health issues Ernie decided to close all but one store that is still up and running on Greenback Ln. in Citrus Heights. Ernie was a man of many traits; he enjoyed building and adding on to his home, tinkering in his shop, golfing, traveling the world, deep sea fishing, and could fix almost anything. He was a mentor to many and will be deeply missed by all.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna Winfree, his three daughters; Terri McRae, Sherri Winfree and Kari Morrow. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Winfree. Husband and father. I remember wonderful times when you all lived in San Jose. I spent a lot of time with all of you. I remember your dad had a beautiful wooden boat and I went with all of you to I believe Callero Reservoir. After launching the boat it started filling up with water. Your dad was telling us all to quickly bail out the water until the wood swelled and sealed the boat. It was pretty funny. Prayers and thoughts to all of you.
