Elizabeth (Betty) Jean England, 86, of Elk Grove, California, peacefully passed away on August 11, 2012 surrounded by family, after a brief illness.
She was born April 1, 1926 in Hayward, California, the daughter of John and Mary Freschauf.
She was a federal retiree from the Oakland Naval Supply Center, where she had worked for many years as a shipping clerk. An avid football fan, her favorite team was the New York Jets. She had a keen sense of humor, which she passed to her daughters, and was very independent, living on her own until her illness. She loved animals of all kinds, but dogs and cats had a special place in her heart.
Betty is survived by six daughters and four son-in-laws: Karen Chedister of San Francisco, California; Jeannie and Dave Wright of Ione, California; Kathy and Nick Servo of Stockton, California; Carleen and Dave England of Hayward, California; Kim and Ed Stevens of Sacramento; and Linda Sharp of Santa Rosa, California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Tiffani Neighbors, Erin Easter, Sarah Gonzales, Christy England, Jenna England, Ian French, Kailyn Sharp, and Emmitt Stevens; and four great-grandchildren: Victor Gonzales, Brandon Cline, Tyler Young, and Steven Cline; as well as six siblings: Alice Spear, Francis â€œBudâ€ Freschauf, Marge Nelson, Thelma Lindell, Robert Freschauf, and Marianne Anderson.
Betty was preceded in death by her son Robert Chedister, her daughter Joanne Goodstone, her grandson Cory England, and her sister Vivian Marshall.
Per her wishes, no service will be held, however some Bruce Springsteen tunes will be played in her honor when she is interred at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, California.
