Doris Merle Domask

Doris was Secretary to the Iron Workers’ Union, Local #118, Sacramento, in 1938 and 1939. After raising her three children, she rejoined the job market in 1963 and became the secretary to Rev. Wilbur Choy of the Oak Park Methodist Church, then secretary of the Sacramento Jr. Museum. She then worked 15 years for the California Highway Patrol and retired in December, 1977. Doris was a member of the California State Employees Association and the Mavericks Square Dance Club. In 1948, Doris won $5, 000 in an Ivory Soap Contest. In 1971, she won first place in nationally advertised L’eggs Originals contest by making Christmas tree ornaments out of the large plastic eggs. Doris is survived by her daughter, Valerie Perea, and son, George Perea.

    I was pleased to have the opportunity to know Doris better these past few years. When Kathye & George moved to Sparks and were able to visit her oftener, I also saw her more frequently. Then when Doris moved in with them, I again spent more time with her. She loved watching movies, as do I, and we enjoyed many hours doing this. She was always gracious and sweet to me, and I enjoyed her company. R.I.P. Doris
