Doris Del Bene died on September 4, 2015. She was an extraordinary woman who lived a very full and successful life and attained many levels of success. Born June 27, 1920 in Jersey City, New Jersey, she enlisted in the Army in 1944 and transferred to the Air Force in 1948 and attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. She was then in the reserves for many years. She worked at the JAG office at McClellan AFB until she retired in 1980. Then Del did not actually retire, she worked as a volunteer for the Library in Citrus Heights and received many commendations for her years of service. Del and her partner of more than 50 years, Betty Kleger, co-owned and operated an Antiques business, in addition they traveled, and enjoyed many friends and family.
Del is loved by many because of her interest in others, her calm demeanor and her kindness. She is survived in Sacramento, Citrus Heights, and Orangevale by her niece, Pamela Stolten and her husband Frank;their two children, Cheryl and Carolyn; and their children, Serena and Alyssa; Summer and Emily. Other nieces include Jackie and her husband Gary in Phoenix, Arizona, Debbie and her husband Robert in Manchester, Vermont and Phyllis Houghton and her children in Kennesaw, Georgia.
She also has a large circle of long term friends and neighbors who will miss her very much.
Services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m at East Lawn Mortuary located at 5757 Greenback Lane in Sacramento. There will be a reception to follow at Saint Francis Hall located at the back of the cemetery.
