Donald Foster Trimble

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who was blessed with a long and well-lived life. Don was born February 23, 1925 in Johnstown, Colorado and passed peacefully in Sacramento, California on Dec 9, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley; his children, Jim Trimble, Jeanne (Del) Pruett, Janis (Don) Wong; grandsons, Bryan (Amanda) Trimble, Jared Pruett and great granddaughters, Leila, Charlotte and Maycie. A proud Navy Veteran of WWII, Don served in the South Pacific as a bombardier and nose gunner aboard a B24 Privateer and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal. Don started his career as a high school teacher and coach in Granby, Colorado in 1952 before moving to California in 1955 and to Sacramento in 1958. He received a Master’s degree in Counseling and spent 30 years as a counselor at Fern Bacon Middle School. He was a past president of Sacramento Teachers Association and retired in 1989. Don was also a very active member of Centennial United Methodist Church for 55 years.
