Donald Silva
April 29, 1950 – March 13, 2021
Don passed on March 13, 2021 at the age of 70. Preceded in death by his son John, his parents Parker
and Grace Silva. He is survived by his loving wife Debby, his daughter Jennifer, his four grandchildren,
his dear sister Pam, and many much-loved family and friends.
Don graduated from Kennedy High School and attended Sac State, and taught music at Sacramento City
College for over 30 years. He was a Drum and Percussion instructor for the Capitalaires all-girl Drum
Corps and Sacramento Freelancers Drum and Bugle Corps. He was exceptionally talented, he could play
any instrument and loved teaching and writing music.
His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing, and playing the
drums. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed.
Due to the current pandemic, a Gravesite service at East Lawn on March 23, 2021 is for family only. A
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  • Nancy G. Wilson says:

My sincerest condolences, Debby and family.

  • Rob Knable, former SCC Dept chair says:

Dear Debbie and family, I was devastated to hear about Don. I am so sorry for your loss. We worked closely for decades at SCC. He was a trusted friend and colleague. I retired a few years after him. I missed him then and do especially now. I think you and I met briefly once. He always spoke lovingly of you.

  • Patti Leonard says:

    Dear Debbie and family,

Don and I both worked in the HFA Division, but in different departments. He was always upbeat, outgoing, and supportive of everyone he came into contact with. He has been missed since his retirement, but thought of often.

Please accept my condolences and prayers.

  • Kelli Gonsoulin says:

Don & I worked together in the SCC Music Department back when Forrest VanRiper, Fred Cooper, Doreen Irwin & Mel Nunes were going strong. We often shared a cup of coffee & some laughs. Don is remembered with fondness; a great guy who will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to the Silva family. Remember the good times!
