Diana Mae Olsen

Sep 24, 1945 - Dec 6, 2017

Diana Mae Olsen, age 72, passed away on December 6th, 2017 in Roseville, CA surrounded by her beloved family. Diana was born in Honolulu, HI, where she spent most of her childhood except for a few PCS tours on the mainland including Newport, RI and Point Mugu, CA. Her father was a career Navy man and Diana was a proud Navy brat. She loved all things Hawaiian, as she truly loved going to the beach with her sister and cousins. While enjoying a night out at the International Market Place, she met her husband when he sat on her purse. Despite this blunder, he asked her to dance to which she agreed and surprisingly trusted him enough to not step on her feet. They later moved to Sacramento, CA in 1976 and started a beautiful family. She was a loving wife and mother, a homemaker, and the heart of her family. Diana enjoyed attending her son and daughter’s sporting events, volunteering for school field trips, baking, and playing the slot machines. She dearly loved her family and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren; as they brought her an abundant amount of joy. Diana is survived by her husband, Charles, with whom she celebrated their 44th anniversary this year; her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jason Cotter; her son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Demetria Olsen; her sister, Sandra Forrestal; her grandchildren, Iona and Liam. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 18th at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 17th at East Lawn Mortuary at 5757 Greenback, Sacramento, CA 95841. If unable to attend, condolences may be emailed to dionel@eastlawn.com.

The best memory I have of Diana is sharing the birth of our grandson Liam in October 2016! We waited patiently and prayerfully to hear the good news of a healthy delivery and a new little life…we were both so elated and filled with joy. I will always remind Liam he has two special Grandmoms who love him dearly. Rest in peace Diana …love you Paula

You were my mother and my best friend, I love you with all my heart, we all miss you so much. You were always there for me and my family, even the times you were not well, I was truly lucky to have a amazing mom like you. It’s been hard not to be able to call you or even text I don’t think that there was a day that went bye that we didn’t do either until these last weeks, I miss that so much. Your granddaughter will always know how much you loved her and will always keep your memories alive.
I love you so much 💐 love always Michelle.

  • Demetria Olsen says:

Thank you Diana for being such a kind, caring and loving mother-in-law, and grandma to Liam. We are so grateful you were able to be at the hospital for Liam’s birth. I will miss your text messages checking on me to see how I am doing. I will miss visiting you and seeing the joy Liam brought to you. Your memories will be kept alive, and I will always show Liam your pictures and tell him how much Grandma loved him. He has a guardian angel in heaven.
You’re my one and only, favorite mother in law.
Rest in peace, and we will see you again one day.

    Love you always,
