Jul 14, 1955 - Jul 16, 2012
Darlene Mahealani Mosqueda (Ahulau), went to “paradise” on July 16, 2012 in Elk Grove, CA after a long battle with brain cancer.
Born July 14, 1955 in Long Beach, CA she was the second daughter of the late Mavis Pearl (Lake Ahulau) Torres and the late Gabriel Huli Ahulau II. Raised in Keaukaha, Hilo, Hawaii she was always proud of her Hawaiian roots and embraced her culture. Her family relocated to West Sacramento where she attended James Marshall HS and Sacramento City College. A former model and 32 year employee of the Ca. Dept. of Motor Vehicles, she loved antiques, coin collecting, music and lobster! She lived her life with the “Spirit of Aloha”, always having a heart for those less fortunate and willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Darlene was the dedicated wife of Mark Steven Mosqueda. She was a proud mother to Monica Lanakila (Baptista) King and Joshua Kapono Mosqueda and loving mother- in- law to her “favorite son-in-law”, Brian King Jr. Adoring “Nana” to Isaiah Kekoa, Elijah I’kaika, and Jeremiah Koali’I and was completely awestruck by her only granddaughter and namesake, Selah Kalina Mahealani King, the source of many of her last smiles.
She is also survived by her sister Jaqueline Tafoya (Richard), and Gwendolyn Lopez (Victor). She was the daughter –in –law to Frank and Ann Mosqueda, sister-in-law to Dean Mosqueda ( Mary), Debbie McCoy (Ed) & Dan Mosqueda (Janet).
She was preceded in death by her only brother Gabriel”Skip” Ahulau III. She was blessed with many nieces & nephews whom she loved dearly. Sister- in-love to Vita Voluntad, Rose Parsley & Bella Valdovinos.
She had many cherished friends that became “ohana”.
