May 19, 1930 – June 24, 2020

Darlene Hunter entered into heaven on June 24, 2020 with her devoted daughter Gayle by her side. Darlene was born May 19, 1930 in Park City, Utah. After graduating from high school in Sacramento California, Darlene became a dental assistant for many years. In 1958, Darlene married Robert Hunter who was an officer in the U.S. navy, a career that he had for 20 years. Darlene and Bob traveled the world together while he was in the Navy. Darlene continued her dental career while Bob was away at sea. After Bob retired from the Navy, Darlene and Bob moved to Walnut Creek, California to start a family. Darlene had many friends and was known for her kind and generous personality, her great sense of humor, and her love for animals. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hunter and her brother Ronald Hall. Darlene is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend Gayle Dye, her son-in law Greg Dye, and her grandchildren Ryan, Brendon and Connor Dye. Darlene also leaves behind her favorite niece Connie Martin, her husband Bill, and their children Cayla and Christian Martin. Darlene is also survived by her dear high school and lifetime friend Marilyn Licursi and lifelong friend Lee Morris and wife Alma. Darlene will be missed by all that knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the humane society. Private family services will be held Thursday July 2, 2020 at 2pm at East Lawn Cemetery at 4300 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento

    My life will be forever changed without my beloved favorite aunt, Darlene Hunter (Auntie Dar) and my tears will continue to flow for a while yet. Nearly 65 years of having that wonderful woman in my life. I will miss our visits and phone chats. She was the greatest aunt anyone could ask for.
