HALEAMAU III, Daniel Puou

Born May 12, 1937 in Hilo HI: Daniel was welcomed with open arms to the home of the Heavenly Father on August 1, 2014, in Sacramento, CA. Preceded in death by his father Daniel, mother Daisy, sister Carol, brother Solomon, first wife Rowena, firstborn son Daniel, and youngest daughter Malia.   Survived by his wife, Martina Haleamau, daughters Daryl Lynn Aguilar (Mark), Darla Trejo (Bobby), Lana Quidgeon, sons, Darcy Haleamau, and Sean Quidgeon (Diane), grandchildren (15) and great grandchildren (20). He also is survived by his sisters Mona Kanakamaikai, Patsy Haleamau and brother Gene Haleamau, including many loving uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews, and nieces. His career expanded over 49 years as a Longshoreman at the Ports of Hilo, HI, Coos Bay, Ore., and Sacramento, CA. He was an active member of the International Longshoremen and Warehousemen Union (ILWU), Locals 18 and 91, and served for a number of years as their Business Agent, President, and Dispatcher. He retired in 2004 as a Walking Boss (Foreman) from the Port of Sacramento. He loved entertaining and sang for over 40 years at many, many Hawaiian functions with his band “Dan’s Hawaiianas”. He will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. All are invited to attend his Celebration of Life Services at the First Covenant Church, 10933 Progress Court, Rancho Cordova, CA on Saturday, August 23 at 11:00 am. Hawaiian attire suggested. Reception immediately following at the First Covenant Church gym (same location). Burial arrangements made by Greenback East Lawn Mortuary. Internment will be private.
