Clifford 'Cliff' Clause
Feb 20, 1920 - Dec 6, 2013
CLAUSE, Clifford Eugene
Cliff Clause had a birthday that was easy to remember… 2/20/20. He was born then to Ethel and Albert Clause in Marietta, Illinois. Brother to Ray Collins Clause Jr. and Jennie Irene Clause. Cliff died in Sacramento December 6, 2013.
Clifford married his true love, Marguerite, and built their dream house of 50 years plus in River Park. Uncle Cliff was loved by his niece Kristen Atkinson and nephew, the late Ray Clause Jr., as well as a loving family and many friends in South Carolina and Sacramento. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and courageously fought in WW2’s Battle of the Bulge. He retired after 35 years as a manager with Pacific Telephone to make more time for the sport he loved most…golf. He and Marguerite were long time members of Cameron Park Country Club. It was widely known he spent as much time looking for lost balls as he did hitting his own! Cliff collected and saved, over the years, thousands of balls which he gave to friends and donated to golf events.
Cliff accomplished years of volunteer work, including Pacific Telephone Pioneers, YMCA, International Order of Rainbow for Girls and Order of DeMolay.
He became a Master Mason in Sacramento Lodge No. 40 in the early 1950’s beginning a lifetime of camaraderie and service. He served as a Knight Commander, a Senior Grand Deacon and Inspector General Honorary. He was given the Hiram Award and was a member of the Royal Court of Jesters. Cliff received his 50 year Scottish Rite membership award with pride. To have known Cliff was to understand his commitment to his Masonic life. This wonderful man, who achieved so much, will be missed.
Funeral services will be at 10am this Thursday, December 12, at Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 6151 H Street, Sacramento.
