Clayton Patterson, 94, of Sacramento, CA, was called home into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. He was born on August 9, 1921 in North Bend, Wisconsin to W. Stanley Patterson and Annie Patterson (Manser). He and his sister, Marian, were reared by grandparents after both their father and mother died. Clayton lived with George and Jessie Manser while Marian lived with Andrew and Clara Patterson, all near one another in North Bend. Clayton attended Galesville High School. He attended North Bend Presbyterian Church in his younger years. He served as a medic in the US Army in World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He worked as a certified public accountant, for the State of Wisconsin and later for 26 years for Rockwell Int’l. Clayton moved to Los Angeles in 1952 and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, where membership in the Ambassadors group resulted in many long friendships. In 1957 he married Mana Henstrand. They were together six years and had two sons, Daniel and Mark. Clayton married Clara Jo Johnson in 1968. They had three children: Christina, William, and Robert. After retiring from Rockwell in 1981, they moved to Sacramento. They joined Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church in the mid ’80s, and were part of the Noah’s Ark II Marinership. Clayton and Clara Jo invested in real estate. Clara Jo died in 2000 of heart disease after battling cancer for 17 years. Clayton married Dolores Ramirez in 2004. Clayton enjoyed traveling, dancing, polka music, playing cards and games, and spending time with his children. He had a smile that could light up a room. He maintained a positive perspective and was always expressing appreciation and thankfulness. He will be greatly missed. Clayton is survived by his wife Dolores R. Patterson, and his 5 children: Daniel Patterson and Suzanne, Mark Patterson, Christina Patterson, William Patterson, and Robert Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Annie Patterson, his sister and brother-in-law, Marian E. and Clayton G. Thompson, and his wife Clara Jo Patterson. Viewings will be held Sunday, November 8, 2015, 2:00 – 5:00pm and Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 10:00am – 1:00pm at East Lawn Mortuary (5757 Greenback Ln, Sacramento CA). A graveside service with US Army military honors will be held at Sierra Hills Memorial Park (Sacramento, CA) on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 1:00pm. A memorial service will be held at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church (11427 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks CA 95628) on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be made to the Missions Fund of Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church.
