Obituary

Cheryl Lynn Zugner-62, passed from this life with family at her side on November 2, 2012 after a very long and courageous battle with many health issues.

Cheryl was a lively and spirited person who had a positive outlook on life no matter what she endured.  She loved traveling, camping, Vegas, POGO, anything science fiction-especially Star Trek (Yes, she was a “Trekkie”) 🙂  But the true love of her life was her constant companion, best friend and husband, Joe.  Their 38-year marriage was an inspiring and amazing testament of love, honor, commitment and respect.

Cheryl had a generous and giving spirit.  Her occupation as a Registered Nurse and her willingness to help anyone in need demonstrated her benevolent nature.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents: Vernon and Jeanne Kinard, Grandparents: Stanley and Susie Baines/Lillian and Percy Kinard.  Cheryl is survived by her husband, Joe, brother Dave (Kathy) Kinard, sister Carolyn (Ray) Paiva, nieces and nephews: Amanda, Crystal, David Jr.. Kristina, Andrew, Sandy, Shannon and Janelle, as well as several cousins, aunts & uncles.

Graveside services will be held on Friday November 9, 2012 at 2pm at East Lawn Memorial Park 9189 E. Stockton Blvd. Elk Grove, CA.

A special thanks to the ICU staff at Sutter Memorial Hospital as well as the wonderful folks at DaVita Dialysis Center in Elk Grove.

  • Bev Baines says:

I am very sorry to learn of Cheryl’s passing. Although we were second cousins we lived in different countries and never met. My vision of Cheryl comes through the wonderful description Carolyn gave of growing up in Cheryl’s loving home. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and I send deepest sympathies to Joe, David and Carolyn and your families. Love, Bev

  • Grant and Mardi Baines says:

It is a fond memory I have of Cheryl from my 1969 visit to California when you so graciously shepherded me around Disneyland. And again in 2000 when our family visited the Sacramento area when you and Joe hosted dinner and a party for us. You again showed your generous and giving spirit. Our deepest sympathies to Joe, David and Carolyn and to their families. Love, cousins Grant, Mardi and Family
