Charles Edward Mier

May 15, 1937 - Jul 16, 2011

MIER, Charles Edward
A devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather, Chuck died of heart failure while vacationing on July 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karen; his sons, Craig and Richard, and his grandchildren, Ryan, Cole, Natalie and Adam Mier. His son, Bryan, pre- deceased him. A fourth-generation resident of Sacramento, Chuck graduated from Sacramento High and attended Sacramento City College and McGeorge Law School. Following a lengthy career as a sergeant-at-arms for the State Assembly, and a period of employment with Cal Western Life Insurance Company, Chuck owned and operated one of East Sacramento’s most well-known bars, Club 2-Me, for 34 years. Its success has been largely attributable to Chuck’s warmth, hospitality, and genuine love of people, as well as his commitment and generosity to civic and charitable organizations throughout Sacramento. A booster for Sac State Hornet Football as well as a manager and volunteer for East Sacramento Little League, Chuck was well known not only as a person who generously gave to worthwhile programs, but as someone who could be counted on to solicit the support of his many friends to also contribute. Chuck was a devoted duck hunter committed to waterfowl enhancement and was honored by the California Waterfowl Association for his efforts to secure duck hunting opportunities for the physically disabled. He was active in the Grand- father’s Club, El Macero Country Club, and The Sutter Club. A memorial celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 30 at Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church, 2140 Mission Avenue in Carmichael.
