GUENTHER, Charles H. “Charlie”, born April 2, 1926 in Yreka, CA, passed away January 9, 2010 in Sacramento surrounded by family. Charlie graduated form Yreka High School in 1944. He missed his graduation ceremony after enlisting in the U. S. Marine Corps. He served in W. W. II and fought in the South pacific during the initial invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Charlie returned to Yreka marrying his high school sweetheart Marilyn Cummings. Charlie began his career as a lineman and retired from Pacific Bell after 37 years as an engineer. He enjoyed fly fishing the Klamath for Steelhead, playing poker with his buddies and frequent gambling trips to Reno with is family. Charlie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn, his daughters Debbie, & Cyndy (Albert) & his granddaughters, Sarah, Rachel & Angela ((Isaac). Friends are invited to attend Funeral Services Thursday, January 14th at 11:00 AM in the East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA (916)732-2031). Entombment will follow in the East Lawn Elk Grove Mausoleum. Donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Loaves & Fishes in his memory.
