Mant Chan, was born CHAN TAK MAN, in Canton, China, on May 1, 1933. Mant passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 21, 2019 in Sacramento, California. He experienced several years of declining health and was lovingly cared for at home by his devoted wife, LAU LAI MING, whom he married in 1956 in Hong Kong.
Mant immigrated to the United States with his wife and four older children and his mother in 1963. They settled in Sacramento, California and have lived in their current home for over 40 years.
Mant is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, LAI MING of Sacramento; daughter MARY Chan Crowley of El Dorado Hills; daughter FAY Chan-Taylor, son-in-law ROBERT Taylor of Gold River, granddaughter Lauren Chan Taylor of Berkeley; son MICHAEL Chan, daughter-in-law, MARIA Chan of Rancho Cordova, granddaughter Amanda Chan (Margaret) of Sacramento; daughter SHIRLEY Chan of Sacramento; son PAUL Chan and daughter-in-law, DORI Yamamoto-Chan, grandsons, Brennan and Kaden Yamamoto-Chan of Sacramento; and daughter SOPHIA Chan Cullen, son-in-law BOBBY Cullen, grandsons Franklin Chan Moirao and Aric Chan Moirao (Stefan) and granddaughter GEMMA Cullen, and grandson Jack Cullen of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Mant’s devoted mother, YUEN SHIU CHUN, preceded Mant in death.
