On August 24, 2020 at 8:33 pm, Carolina Galupe Garcia joined her Creator at the age of 101. Carolina was born in the Philippines and she immigrated to the United States on May 28, 1968 and planted the family roots in San Francisco where she lived for more than 50 years. She retired in 1991 from the Jewish Family and Children’s Services in San Francisco where she worked putting together merchandise for the disabled. Carolina was predeceased by her husbands Augustin Hidalgo (died in1945) and Pedro Garcia (died in 1994) who both served the US Army during World War II in the Philippines. Carolina had 12 children, Anita (Bernardino), Francisco deceased (Norma), Pacita (Abdon), Lolita (Roger), Fernando (deceased), Liza (Jaime), Annie (Oscar deceased), Nancy (Roger), Nieves, Peter (deceased), Teddy (Fe) and Caroline. Carolina was blessed with 39 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. She was a great seamstress and she sewed gowns and party dresses for friends and family. Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidering and gardening. She had the penchant for jewelries and she was a loyal costumer of the jewelry stores in Mission. She was also known for smoking cigarettes flipped over with the lit portion inside the mouth! She defied the odds of smoking and life expectancy. Lola Carling or Lola Darling as she is fondly called will be missed tremendously and so with the myriad of family gatherings at her home. She had a life well lived and lived the way she wanted. Her memory will be cherished by the multi-generation family she left behind.

A celebration of her life will be held at the South Sacramento East Lawn Mortuary 3939 Fruitridge Road Sacramento, Ca 95820 on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 3 to 7 pm. The committal/burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 12:30 pm.
