Obituary

Carlos Hernandez was born on May 15, 1947 in Hanford, California to parents Marcos and Teresa Hernandez. He passed away in West Sacramento and entered into eternal life on January 14th, 2016 at the age of 68. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.
As a young boy Carlos grew up with eight siblings, many of which he worked side by side in local fields picking cotton and harvesting fruit. He enjoyed playing football and wrestling, but his real passion was baseball.
He attended Hanford High School and graduated in 1965. His passion for education helped him earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 from Fresno State University, where he majored in Spanish with a minor in History.
In 1970 Carlos married the love of his life, Anna Marie. He was a selfless and caring husband and father. Over four years the couple welcomed two beautiful children, Juan and Marcelina. Carlos was a nurturing father who shared a special bond with each of his children. His children affectionately remember him as a compassionate, patient and loving father who always encouraged and supported them. Carlos shared his love of music and reading with his children through his extensive album and book collection.
The family moved from Fresno to Sacramento in 1980 so that Carlos could accept a position with the State of California as an Education Specialist. Carlos was an accomplished individual who was known for sharing his vast knowledge with his peers. He was highly regarded amongst his colleagues who describe him as a man who possessed professional integrity and dedication. Carlos was an intelligent, loyal, hard-working, individual who loved history and traveling. His favorite travel destination was Mexico where he loved to vacation with his family. He found solace in his backyard garden where he spent many peaceful hours attending to his collection of flowers and plants.
An extraordinary man who was adored by everyone who knew him, Carlos touched many lives in his community with his kindness and friendship. In addition to caring for his family and friends, he was also committed to his community. He was a civil rights activist who led peaceful demonstrations for human rights equality. Carlos regularly demonstrated his passion for helping people by serving as a dedicated supporter of United Farm Workers, Loaves and Fishes and The Salvation Army. Through his passion for education he possessed multiple roles, including Dean and Director at Colegio De La Tierra Community College in Del Rey, California. He administered projects that benefited low-income students from bilingual-bicultural backgrounds by providing them an opportunity to attend post-secondary education.
Carlos is survived by his wife, Anna Marie; children, Juan and Marcelina; daughter-in-law, Evon; grandchildren, Christopher, Salvador, Celina, Isabella and Jake; siblings, Marcos, Benjamin, Ernest and John; his beloved Perez family; and many nieces and nephews who he absolutely adored. He is preceded in death by his parents Marcos and Teresa Hernandez; sisters, Olga, Lucia and Beatrice; and his brother, Andy.

My Dearest Sister, Nephew and Niece: My heart has immense grief and sadness in the passing of Carlos my dear brother in law. He is one of two men I have known in my life to always exhibit the fruit of spirit. He blessed my life abundantly and he set the godly example in my life of how a husband loves his wife and how a father cares and nurtures his children unconditionally. Godspeed to you dear brother in law and I will see you in the morning when I pass in through the gates of heaven. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all comfort. • Art & Marla Perez says:

To my Dear sister Anna, my nephew Juan, my beautiful niece Marcelena. Its W/ a very heavy heart We write this message to you. I cannot begin to feel the pain of heart you are experiencing right now W/ the loss of your dear Husband & Father. If I could I, like so many others who love you very much would remove your pain. Unfortunately we can not, but what we can do is give our loving support in all ways possible: empathy, compassion. We have all been bitterly stung by the pain of losing a loved one by what the bible describes as God’s enemy. Only our loving Father Jehovah & His Son Christ Jesus really knows the extent of your pain & we as those who love you can offer some comfort only Jehovah & His Son can fully comfort you now & in the future when as the Bible reassuringly describes as the resurrection of our lost loved ones. Jesus demonstrated this on 3 different occasions. God’s Word speaks very clear how He will bring back those as He did in Jesus’ time on earth have fallen asleep in death. We will be able to touch, hug, cry with, laugh with, talk with our loved ones again because that is Our Father’s purpose for all of mankind, His Word clearly reveals this in many scriptures in the Bible. Marla & I love you all very much & will be here for you always. May Jehovah & His Son provide you W/ the strength beyond what is normal in your painfull loss. With Much Sincere Love and Compassion Your Brother & Sister, Aunt & Uncle Art & Marla Perez
