Benjamin Franklin Cator

Born in Los Angeles December 5, 1918-August 1, 2014. Beloved husband and devoted father, passed away in Sacramento peacefully in the presence of family at the age of 95. A native of Hillsborough, CA, he was one of two children born to Ben and Mina Hill Cator. He graduated from Burlingame High School, and Oregon State with a Geology degree. He enlisted in the Navy, and became a first lieutenant at mid shipment school at Columbia University. After serving in the South Pacific, 1942-1946, he married his sweetheart of 56 years, Helene Budiselich in 1951 and raised two children Ben and Deborah. He was an active person, enjoying countless hiking expeditions, jazz festivals, historical museums, and gardening. He was an avid historical reader and enjoyed a love of the southwest American Indian culture. He adored his family and friends. His sense of humor and generosity will be missed. He is survived by, son Ben Cator Jr of Folsom, daughter Deborah Lagomarsino of Visalia, brother George Cator of Menlo Park, four grandchildren, and three great grand children. His life will be celebrated on August 15, at 9:30 am at East Lawn Cemetery, 5757 Greenback Ln. Donations may be made to CA State Railroad Museum Foundation or Bristol Hospice of Sacramento.
