Benie Prieto Felix

May 6, 1959 - Aug 2, 2014

Benie Gapultos Felix was born in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. At the age of 7, she moved to Delano CA and attended elementary school and later graduated from Delano High School in 1977.

In the fall of 1977, she moved to Sacramento CA to pursue a college degree at Sacramento State. Benie graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1981. Shortly after graduating, she worked at Cal Farm Insurance as a Director of Human Resources. While working, she attended evening classes in pursuit of a Masters Degree. In 1984, Benie received her Master’s Degree.

In July 1986, Benie married her high school sweetheart Rick Felix and resided in Sacramento as their permanent residence. What a joyous occasion it was especially with both families at our side.

On August 10, 1994, Benie and Rick became the proud parents of daughter Marissa Felix. That was one of the most exciting days for Benie and Rick. Benie loved being a parent and dressing up Marissa in cute hats and baby gap cloths. She also enjoyed watching Marissa experience her interests in dance, musicals and soccer. She made every effort to attend each event regardless of her busy work schedule. Family was the most important thing to Benie.

In September of 1997, Benie was hired at the Franchise Tax Board where she worked for over 16 years. She enjoyed her work at FTB especially with developing friendships with staff and management. As a manager, Benie enjoyed spoiling her staff with food and always valued their hard work. She loved her team!

During her time off, Benie loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit places such as Spain, France, Germany, Florida, and New York with both Rick and Marissa. At home, Benie enjoyed spending time with her family. Whether it is barbequing, swimming or watching a movie, she cherished her time with Rick and Marissa. Benie also loved gardening or reading a good John Grisham novel. Her favorite book of all was her Bible. Benie loved God and always made it a priority to attend Capital Christian Church with Rick and Marissa. Benie was truly a loving and generous person. She would always say, “You have not had a perfect day until you’ve done something good for 1 person.”

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband Rick of 28 years and their 19 year old daughter Marissa. She is also survived by her mother Estrella Gapultos, sisters Odette Oesau, Marlet Gapultos-Garrett, brothers Mario Gapultos and Bonifacio Gapultos and proud Auntie to nephews Claudell Gapultos, Marvin Gapultos, Darren Gapultos, niece Danielle Oesau and great Auntie to Bruce, Callista and Grant.

A Celebration of Benie’s life will be held Saturday August 9, 2014, 10:00a.m. at Capital Christian Center, 9470 Micron Ave, Sacramento, CA.

A viewing will also be held Friday August 8, 2014, from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd. Elk Grove, CA.

Flowers may be sent to Capital Christian Center.
The Family is grateful for the support and prayers from our dear friends and family. A special thank you also goes out to the FTB Family for their unlimited support during Benie’s illnes.

Benie was a BFF. Her memory and the impacts she had on my life will live on forever in my heart. There she will always have a special place. I loved everything about her….inside and out! She was a beautiful and caring person. We shared so much in our many years of friendship! We gave each other strength the way girlfriends should be there for each other. I love you Girlfriend! I deeply mourn your passing like no words can express and until we see each other again I will miss you immensely….meanwhile plant a beautiful garden; have wonderful times with your Dad and sing your heart praises to our heavenly Father! My deepest condolences to Rick, Marissa, Mom and family. With all my love, Addie
