With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Barcelona Flores Sison,
our loving and precious mother and grandmother, our beloved “Nanay.”
She lived 99 1/2 blessed years on earth and peacefully left this world on
August 6, 2022. Barcelona was born on February 11, 1923 in Buer, Aguilar,
Pangasinan, Philippines to parents Baldomero Flores and Cristina Lacuesta.
Barcelona was married to Alfredo Sison Sr. and gave birth to seven children;
twins Ester and Estela, Angelina, Alfredo Jr., Rebecca, Antonio, and Caldito.
In 1981, Barcelona immigrated to the United States with her granddaughter,
Jewel. Throughout her lifetime, Nanay was devoted to taking care of her
children and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and sewing,
as evident through the savory dishes she cooked for her family and the
clothes she sewed for her children and grandchildren. She loved to sing. She
was kind, loving, wise, beautiful, and most importantly dedicated to her
family. Nanay lived a happy and fulfilling life surrounded by the utmost love
and admiration from her family. She has now joined her loving husband,
siblings, and cherished grandchildren, Christian S. Castillo and
Angelo A. Sison, in heaven.
Barcelona is survived by her seven children – Ester (married to Leandro
Tiangson), Estela (widow to Abraham Batoon), Angelina (married to
Gualberto Biag), Alfredo Jr. (married to Delia Mendigorin), Rebecca (married
to Roman Castillo), Antonio (married to Edelita Aquino), and Caldito (formerly
married to Cora Barrientos); her fifteen grandchildren – Leah Marie, Mary
Grace, Don Joseph, Jewel, Carl, Charlene, Paul, Clemence, Charmaine,
Desiree, Anthony, Andrew, Jemirth, Jemo, and Christopher; and her
twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Gone from our sights, but forever in our hearts.
May she rest in peace.
