Arlene Davis was born in her grandmother’s home in Stickles Hollow, Smithport, Penssylvania on November 27th 1937 to Nelson and Irona Ramer, She moved to California in 1951 then settled in Stockton in 1953 and graduated from Stockton College High School in 1955.

Arlene met her husband Gordon in the 11th grade and started dating him the following summer. One year after graduation they were married and celebrated 63 wonderful years on May 20th 2019.

Arlene moved to Sacramento with her husband and children in 1966. They became charter members of a new church plant called Valley High Covenant (now Common Ground, a Covenant Church) where she loved to sing. She joined the choir, often sang solos, and helped lead worship.. She attended some classes at Cosumnes River College and joined their choir giving her opportunity to sing Handles Messiah every Christmas season for several years. Over the years, while on her travels, she blessed others by singing solos in their churches, including for a few weddings.

Arlene went to work after the kids were teens and retired from the Federal Government in 1998. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s just one year later in 1999.

One of Arlene’s passions in retirement w as all of the traveling she and Gordon did in spite of her diagnosis. Gordon was her caregiver from day one of her diagnosis and literally showed her the world. She had the opportunity to visit all 50 states, Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Israel. During her travels she collected 150 salt and pepper shaker sets.

Arlene was pedeceased by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband Gordon and her four children,: Kenneth Lee Davis (Janice) of Wilton, CA, Raymond Roy Davis (Kathie) of Crescent, IA, Linda Kay Walrath (Mark) of Bonney Lake, WA, and Melvin Lynn Davis (Colette) of Elk Grove, CA. She also leaves six grandchildren ten great grandchildren and all six of her siblings.
