Ann Bailey Blackie
Jan 8, 1946 - Oct 3, 2019
Ann Bailey Blackie, 73, of Sacramento, passed away at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael, CA on October 3, 2019 with her family by her side.
Ann was born in England to Frederick and Eileen Bailey on January 8, 1946 and attended Oakmead Academy. She immigrated to the United States and proudly became an American Citizen because she wanted her political voice heard. Shortly after moving to the U.S. Ann met and fell in love with her husband of 53 years, David Blackie.
Their journey through life together included moving from California to Texas, to Memphis then back to California while David served in the U.S. Navy. They resided in The San Francisco Bay Area cities of Danville and Berkeley before moving to Sacramento, upon David’s retirement.
In the early 1970’s, Ann became interested in showing, training and handling pure bred dogs. Her interest evolved into a passion that, over the years, included numerous show dogs including a very special Kerry Blue Terrier named Lilah, Irish Setters, Rottweilers and a lifetime love affair with the German Shepherd Dog. Indeed, when Ann got to Heaven no doubt she was greeted with lots of wagging tails.
Ann was a loving mother, best friend and constant strong presence in Ally and Lisa’s lives. They enjoyed girl’s trips, lunch dates, hiking, watching British Comedy TV, shopping, getting their nails done and glasses of wine.
Ann is survived by her husband David and daughters Alice and Lisa. She is also survived by her brother Joseph and lifetime best friend and sister-in-law Ann Rose Bailey of Kessingland, England.
Ann will be remembered for her quick-wit and brilliant humor, she was always in a good mood and had a positive attitude. She will be remembered for her love for music and dance; most of all for her sense of style and class.
Services will be held at East-Lawn Memorial Park 4300 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento, CA. 95819 at 11:00 a.m. November 9, 2019. Immediately following the service there will be a Celebration of Life party at 58 Degree & Holding 1217 18th Street Sacramento, CA. 95811.
