Alexander Nichelini

Mar 16, 1916 - Feb 6, 2010

Our father, Alexander Nichelini, was born March 16, 1916, and passed peacefully on February 6, 2010, at his home in West Sacramento. He was born the youngest of ten children to Benedetto and Gioconda Leoni Nichelini in Vallejo, Calif., where he spent his youth. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor he enlisted as a SeaBee and was station in Samoa in the South Pacific. After the war he returned to San Francisco where he met and married Phyllis Miller on July 1, 1950. They moved to a home he built in San Rafael where two daughters were born to them. They moved their young family to Sacramento in 1962 and Al went to work for the state in the capitol building in the telematic shop. He retired at age 70 and, after the death of his wife Phyllis, moved to Grass Valley in 1993 until a heart attack made it necessary for him to move back to Sacramento where he lived at his daughter’s home until his death. Our father was a wonderful and delightful man who made friends with everyone he met whether it was governors or gardeners. He never had an enemy, was kind and generous to all. He was a lucky man.
