Albert W. Wong
Jun 23, 1934 - Jul 31, 2021
Albert was a voracious reader of all news, curator of random facts, enthusiastic debater, arbiter of good jokes, avid consumer of espionage films, connoisseur of char siu baos, lifelong supporter of the Golden State Warriors and 49ers, and zealous pursuer of a great bargain. A native San Franciscan, he graduated from George Washington High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army before obtaining a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and embarking on a 30 year career with PG&E. One of the original “Girl Dads”, he basked in his new role as “Grandpa/Poppy” to four grandsons, some who towered over him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Sylvia; daughters Natalie (Tim Guay) and Jennifer (Mark Wolter); grandsons Nicholas, Jackson, Nathaniel, and Dylan; siblings Sarah Won, Marion Lee, and Winton Wong; and many nieces and nephews who fondly called him Uncle Al. He is predeceased by sisters Betty Chan and Ani Lelea. A Memorial Service will be held 11am on Tuesday August 31, at East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento.
