Obituary
Al entered into this world in a little town called Capay, California. He was born at home on June 25, 1936. He died on July 16, 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his first wife, Marie and three children, Linda Rowland of Elk Grove, CA, Teresa Haberen of Rancho Murieta, CA, and Al W. Thomas of Lodi, CA.
His is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Loma Easterly Thomas and his father, William R. Thomas; his brothers, AZ Thomas, Roy V. Thomas, Robert Thomas, Donald and Ronald Thomas, and his sisters, Lena Mayfield, Ermil McCready, and Florence Sanfilipo.
He joined the Air Force in 1953 and was honorably discharged in July 1957.
Al’s brother-in-law got him a job with Aerojet and he was there when the layoffs started. He went from Sacramento to Claremont and then to Denver, Colorado, and then to Idaho Falls, Idaho, before the layoffs caught up with him.
He then took a job with Bank of America in San Francisco but that lasted only a year. Then Al’s brother offered him a chance to go into a trucking company business. They did and bought out an existing company in 1978. Al split from his brother in 1982 and continued on to retire from there. At one time he had 18 trucks.
After retirement, Al liked cruises, motor-homing all over the country and golf. Later years was to be in Yuma, AZ for the winters.

I met Al at Aerojet in 1960. We became good friends and have had many visits, vacations and adventures. For years we talked ever Sunday morning, while wives went to church. Al will be truly missed! Love him! Don
