Obituary for Doris Elaine Decker

Doris Decker passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2018 at the age of 83 with family by her side.

Doris was born near Palisade, Nebraska. She grew up in that town and graduated from high school in 1953. Doris married the love of her life in 1954. Doris followed her husband as he joined the Air Force. The two of them traveled the world for the next 25 years. Doris dedicated her life to her family, her husband, and her country as an Air Force Officer’s wife.

Doris was preceded in death by her father Virgil William Strayer, and mother Marie Viona Strayer.

She is survived by her husband Lt. Col. Dwayne Z. Decker (retired); children Brenda S. French, Diana L. Cuellar, and Gary A. Decker; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Doris leaves behind a long history of devotion to her family. Her strength, her love of life, and her strong sense of courage have been some of her greatest attributes. She passed with dignity, and a dedicated love for her god.

She will be forever missed. Services will be held at Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church, 5839 Dewey Drive, Citrus Heights at 11:00am Friday, June 8, 2018.
