Phuoc (Linda) Truong

August 10, 1947 — January 18, 2019

Phuoc (Linda) Truong, age 71, passed away peacefully January 18, 2019 in West Sacramento with her Family. She was born on August 10, 1947 to Do and Chin Bui in Qui Nhon, Vietnam. She married Kuu Truong in June of 1967, who preceded her death in 2015. Phuoc was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She strived to provide for her children, and made many sacrifices to create greater opportunities for her family. Phuoc left Vietnam with her then young family in 1979. The family voyaged to a Hong Kong refugee camp before finally ending up in California. Phuoc enjoyed her role as grandmother in her retirement years. Prior to that, she held a number of jobs including working at a Seiko factory in Hong Kong. Arriving in California in 1981, she supported the family working for a factory sewing clothes, and also as a chef. Her final role came when Phuoc graduated cosmetology school in 1989 and became a manicurist for the next 20 years. Although the work was very hard, she was able help her family establish themselves and ensure better opportunities than she had been afforded. She was also lucky enough to meet people who would become some of her closest lifelong friends along the way. Phuoc found her passion for fitness in her retirement years. She would wake up and start her early morning work outs at 24 hour fitness where she met up with many friends. After her workouts, she would often time visit her other friends to show off her muscles. Phuoc also prided herself as a great chef. She enjoyed going to the Asian and farmers markets where she would select fresh fruits and vegetables. Just about every Sunday to this year, her children and their families would all come together to enjoy a meal she prepared while her husband would show off his latest invention. Her famous dishes are banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe) and salt baked crab. She cooked with so much love that no restaurant could compare with her flavor. Or more importantly, the effect she had to bring her family together. Phuoc is survived by her six children, Hai (May) Truong, Susan (Brad) Yu, Hong Truong (Warren Luu), Ha Truong (Cindy Huynh), Chi (Yen) Truong, April (Ryan) Uyematsu; nine grandchildren, Angela Truong, Alex Truong, Kaylyn Yu, Hollie Truong, Isaac Yu, Ben Truong, Amanda Luu, Chloe Truong, Tyson Truong and many extended family members. To celebrate her life, a Buddhist ceremony and viewing will be held between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park & Mortuary.
