Obituary

Michael Ray Deakle
12-25-1953 to 4-15-2017

Michael left us to be in the Loving Arms of Our Lord and Savior on April 15, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters, April and Rudi; son, Eli; brother, Terry; sisters, Deb, Kim, and Karen; stepfather, George; nieces, nephews, and in-laws; The Vogt Family; The McBride Family; and many, many, caring friends. Michael worked as an electrician and foreman during his working career, and was known in the industry as "THE LEGEND" (in addition to his many other nicknames like "The Deak", "Viking", or "Red"). Michael's many life enjoyments included: spending time with his family and friends, his Harley Davidson, Rock 'n' Roll (especially "The Who"), the Seattle Seahawks, and the Anaheim Angels. Michael was proud of his upbringing in the Sierra Nevada mountains, fondly referring to himself as a life-long "ridge-runner".

Michael was a simple man and he had a knack for making people smile. He was a straight-shooter and commonly said things like, "you can't always get what you want", and, "if you were right, I'd agree with you". One thing is for certain: if you ever had the privilege of sharing a conversation with Mike Deakle, he told you exactly what he was thinking.

Michael's wife, Jan, refers to him as her "hero" and she will fondly cherish the 32 years that they spent together. Mike and Jan shared an uncommon love, and his friends will tell you that Mike said he would marry her the minute that he laid eyes on her.

His children love him dearly and appreciate the love and support he provided to their family.

Michael's family will cherish his memory eternally.

"The road goes ever on and on, down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow if I can."
