Timothy Edward Butts was born on April 25, 1960, in Sacramento, California, to Ed and Kathy Butts. He lived his entire life in the Sacramento region.

He was a very active boy who grew into a man with a passion for life. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and cycling. He was also intense about exercise and healthy eating.

He graduated from Casa Robles High School in 1978. He continued his education and earned a bachelor's degree in business from National University in 1992.

Tim worked for Roseville Telephone Company for many years until he followed in the footsteps of his father and entered the building profession in 1991. For the past 15 years, he primarily focused on green building and zero energy residential building. He dreamed of launching a commercial greenhouse business and spent years researching this field.

Tim met Jennifer in 1989, and they married in 1991. They lived in Davis and Sacramento for the first few years of their marriage, and then they found their dream property in a peaceful grove of trees in the town of Herald where they have lived for the past 24 years.

Tim received the baptism of the Holy Ghost at the First United Pentecostal Church in Orangevale when he was nine years old. In 1983, Rev. Nathaniel Wilson became his pastor. Tim and Jennifer began attending The Rock Church together in 1996 after the passing of Tim's father.

In 2006, Tim and Jennifer were blessed to have four children—Ava, Tirian, Carisse, and Katrielle. Unfortunately, three of the children went to Heaven right away, but God spared Carisse as a gift of grace. Carisse has brought 11 years of joy and sunshine to her parents, and she was especially a huge help to her daddy during his illness.

In January of this year, Tim was diagnosed with ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The past few months have been very difficult, but God gave Tim time to ensure his salvation and to share some special, final moments with loved ones. Although Tim will be greatly missed, we have peace in knowing that he has been reunited with his father, children, and other loved ones in Heaven. And he's probably busy putting his building knowledge and skills to use to prepare a place for others.
