Christine Louise Van Steyn, 67, passed away peacefully in her home after a battle with cancer on March 14, 2017. She was born on November 2, 1949, in Merced, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Cecelia (Alves) Morgado and her sister Karen M. Rosberg. She is survived by her beloved husband, Case Van Steyn, her children Jennifer Van Steyn (Brock Kaiser), Ted Van Steyn (Emily Feuerherm), Kathleen (Mark) Wymer, and Russell (Georgina) Van Steyn, her grandchildren Kira and Dean Kaiser, Wyatt and Luke Wymer, and Hank and Audrey Van Steyn, and her siblings Rosemary Anslow and Chris Morgado. Her BA in French from CSU Fresno initiated a lifelong love of learning languages. She was Co-Owner of the Van Steyn Dairy for 41 years and also worked as a substitute teacher at Franklin Elementary School and in the administrative office of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A devout Catholic, she taught Catechism classes, was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Christopher Church, and was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was unfailingly kind and generous, and enjoyed fundraising for philanthropic purposes. She enjoyed baking, sweets, and formal teas with her family. A rosary will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 6pm, and the memorial service will be the following day, March 24 at 11am. Both services will be at St. Christopher Church at 950 S. Lincoln Way in Galt. Contributions can be made to the Queen of Peace Circle #1372 of the Daughters of Isabella, the American Cancer Society, or Make-a-Wish.
