Emily Madeline Marler was born on February 2, 2000 to Karen Floyd and John Marler in Sacramento, California. On May 30, 2016, Emily passed away after a four and a half year battle with cancer. In 2012 Emily was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Liver Sarcoma a very rare tumor. In 2014 she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia acquired from the chemo from 2012. After receiving a bone marrow transplant in 2014, she unfortunately she was diagnosed in 2016 with Leukemia again. Emily was a warrior, she never complained and loved to be a normal teenager hanging out with her friends.
Emily is survived by her mother Karen Floyd and Jake Anklam Jr; her father John Marler; her sister Sarah Bugayong, brother-in-law Josh Bugayong and her nephew Liam; her brothers Jacob Everett and Austin Marler; her grandmothers Lois Floyd and Madeline Marler; and her loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 10, at Sun River Church, 11223 Trinity River Drive in Rancho Cordova, followed by a reception at the Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive.
Emily's family suggests that donations may be made in her name to these organizations that offered assistance and support throughout Emily's four-year battle:
