On Wednesday, February 17, 2016, Bob peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento, California, after suffering from a massive stroke. He was born on July 24, 1938 in Lexington, Nebraska to Dewey Fred Harmoney and Myrtle (Axtill) Harmoney and was the youngest of 5 children. After graduating from high school, Bob joined a Navy "kidde cruise" and that is where he learned many of the skills that made him the man that he was in both his personal and professional life. Upon completion of Bob's three year service in the Navy, he met Betty McKinney at San Lorenzo Baptist Youth Group in 1959. Bob and Betty married on February 22, 1962 in Reno. Together, they had three daughters.
Bob began working with Lloyd McKinney in 1962. In 1967, Bob and Betty bought into Lloyd F. McKinney Associates, Inc., an Audio and Video Contracting Company that is currently in its 55th year of business. Between 1966-1967, he was President of San Lorenzo Lion's Club and later became a lifetime member of Ear of the Lion Foundation of California-Nevada
Before moving to Pleasant Grove, Bob was very involved in Palomares 4-H and was a long-time supporter of the Alameda County Junior Livestock Auction. In 1996, Bob began farming full-time at the Diamond H Ranch in and became a more prevalent member of the Cattlemen's Association and Angus Association. He also shared his passion for empowering young people to gain knowledge in agriculture and life skills with the East Nicholas and Lincoln High School Ag Departments.
Bob's gentle spirit will live on through his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty; daughters, Sherri Stanley, Shelli Freeman and Bobbi Ginn; five grandchildren; Daniel Stanley, Clint Freeman, Caitlyn Freeman, Wyatt Ginn and William Ginn; three sisters; Lila Boatman, Edna Pierce, Loretta Hagen; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and Brother Ernest Harmoney.
Bob genuinely cared about others and he was a natural Mentor to many walks of life. He would often have more confidence in someone than they would have in themselves. His positivity and "can-do" charisma was contagious. Bob impacted many people during his life and there is no doubt that every soul he touched was changed for the better.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on May 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm at The Diamond H Ranch in Pleasant Grove. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bob's memory to the American Cancer Society; American Heart Association; East Nicolaus FFA; Commission To Every Nation P.O.
