Obituary

Lowell was born in Turlock, California on April 9, 1937 to Lloyd and LaVerne Bowman. He passed away peacefully in his home September 24, 2017, surrounded by family and love at the age of 80. He grew up on a farm in Patterson with his parents, his brother Stanley, and his uncle Vic in a traditional Swedish family culture. Growing up, Lowell enjoyed the Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout award at the age of 14. He also regularly participated in the 4H Club. After graduating from Patterson High School in 1955, Lowell joined the Coast Guard and was stationed in Monterey, CA. After his service, he started college at Modesto JC and graduated from CSU Sacramento in 1962 with a BS in Business. He married his first wife, Clora Ross on August 29, 1959 with whom he had 3 children, Carri, Michael, and Craig. Lowell started working in the Sacramento County Assessor's office in June, 1963 and continued to work there until retiring as Assistant Assessor in October, 1995. During that time, he married his second wife, Terri Lee on May 15, 1982 and expanded his family with two step sons, Brad and Chris. In 1986, Lowell was diagnosed with MS. It was slow, progressive MS which allowed him to live a longer life. Lowell was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, camping, backpacking and sports. One of Bo's crowning achievements was being co-founder and the Raison D'etre of the Save the Carp Committee and the annual fish out. Lowell and Terri enjoyed traveling extensively both nationally and internationally, and enjoyed local dining and wine. Carpe Diem! During his later years, Siale, Joshua and Deeana lived with, and cared for him, vastly improving his quality of his life. Lowell was survived by his children, Carri, Craig (Jennifer) and Chris (Sharon), and 8 grandchildren, Zachary, Scarlet, Justin, Chloe, Madison, Cody, Samuel and Megan and predeceased by his wife Terri, brother Stanley, and sons Michael (Erlinda) and Brad (Jim).
