Obituary for William Geary Rapp

William (Bill) Geary Rapp of West Sacramento, California passed away on November 2, 2017 at the age of 74. He was born October 3, 1943 in Dunsmuir, California to Geary and Freeda Rapp (both deceased). Bill had three brothers, Donald (deceased), Ronny (deceased), Dick (Betty), he leaves his sisters Sandra Souza (Michael deceased), Kimberly Swift (Jack), sister-in-law Sandy Jones, cousin Lloyd Griffith, nine nieces and nephews and a very large extended family. Bill had no children of his own but was very committed to his family; he was the “Uncle Bill” who could fix anything. His family settled in West Sacramento where he graduated from Clarksburg High School. Bill worked in the railroad industry and was a member of Oak Park #1344. He also joined the National Guard serving his country. Bill retired from Union Pacific Railroad at an early age and he took over his Dad’s business, Alhambra Meats in West Sacramento. This was one of his proudest accomplishments. Bill then retired at 55 years old from Alhambra Meats at which time he continued to farm his family’s acreage in West Sacramento. His family would like to thank his long time care caregiver Louie, who was compassionate and caring to Bill’s needs. A very big thank you to his longtime girlfriend, Maggie for all she did for him until the end of his life. Maggie was a blessing to us all. Our family is extremely grateful for Yolo Hospice and the wonderful care they gave to Bill during his final days – the family would not have gotten through this without their loving support. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene building fund or Yolo Hospice. Friends are welcome to attend a graveside service on Friday, November 10 at 11 am at East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA and a Memorial Service at Noon at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1820 28th St., Sacramento CA.
