Ruth Tucker
1921 â 2017
Long-time East Sacramento resident, Ruth Tucker, age 96 years, passed on to Glory peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of November 30, 2017. Ruth was born in Sayre, Oklahoma on March 3, 1921 to Claud and Lena Moseley. She married her childhood sweetheart, Moody Tucker, on December 19, 1940, the date of her parentsâ 25th wedding anniversary. Ruth & Moody came to California in 1941, settling in Sacramento. They had 2 children, Dwight & Joanne, and in 1950 had their family home built in Meister Terrace.
Ruth was a devoted wife, dedicated mother & mother-in-law, and a doting âDeetaâ (the name her grandchildren & great grands fondly called her). Her special chocolate chip cookies were infamous, appearing at every family gathering, grandsâ field trips in Sacramento, and even to France! Ruth had the self-proclaimed joy of being a fulltime and lifetime homemaker. She was a meticulous housekeeper and seamstress, sewing all of her daughterâs clothes, including prom dresses! Ruth will be remembered for the time she spent with each of us, for her fried chicken and chicken fried steak dinners, pies of every flavor, and, of course, those chocolate chip cookies!
Recently Ruth had been visiting in Stockton to be closer to her daughter, yet her heart remained on Primrose Way where she lived for over 65 years.
Ruth was a woman of faith, senior member of First Baptist Church, who is now reunited with her beloved Moody, cherished son Dwight, older brother RL & his wife Jessie, and best friend and sister Millie and her husband Paul.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Joanne Waters (who married Ruthâs favorite son-in-law Rich on Ruth & Moodyâs 25th wedding anniversary just as Ruth & Moody had done) and daughter-in-law Mercedes Tucker of Sacramento; 5 grandchildren & their spouses Rip & Erica Waters of Lodi, Rob & Sara Waters, Randy & Janee Waters of Stockton, Jenni & Jason Crowson of Cameron Park, and Nikki & Jesse England of Colfax; 12 Great grands Tim Phillips of Roseville, Courtney & Eric Barbee of Sacramento , Grace Kilday of Cameron Park, Ella & Reed Waters of Lodi, Tucker, Claire & Kellen Waters and Isabella & Alexandre Waters of Stockton, and Olivia & Tucker England of Colfax; younger brother and wife, Floyd & Frances Moseley of Bakersfield, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth lived her life doing what she loved . . . taking care of and providing for her family.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 13th, at 2:00 pm at East Lawn Cemetery, 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento. Funeral arrangements by Andrews & Greilich. Remembrances may be made to Teichert Foundation, or to the charity of your choice.
