Obituary for Kathleen Ann Waterstraat

Kathleen Ann Waterstraat died February 26, 2018, after a short and unexpected illness. Kathy was born in Bangor Michigan on April 16, 1947, daughter of Eugene Paul Waterstraat and Evelyn Elaine Hudson Waterstraat. She grew up in Kalamazoo, Waukegan, and finally Lafayette, Indiana, where she lived for most of her adult life. She was a graduate of Waukegan Township High School in Illinois. Kathy worked for decades in food service at Purdue University, especially in Tarkington Hall, where she counted many students and staff members as her friends. She was a devout member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, where she sang in the choir and participated in bible study. In the last decade of her life, Kathy moved to California to be near family, where she sang in the choir at St James Church in Davis and made many friends at the Californian in Woodland.

Kathy was simply one of the happiest people you could ever meet. She was always very positive about life. She made friends easily and was deeply loyal. She loved the Purdue Boilermakers – she was a faithful fan at the home games when she lived in Lafayette, and nothing could tear her away from the television when the games were on in California. She loved her family, her friends, her church and her teams. She will be deeply missed. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her sister Pamela. She is survived by her brother Paul and his family - Judi, Christopher, Stefan, Nick and Shavon - as well as by her many fond cousins.
