In Loving Memory
Jean Suen Lee
1932 – 2018

Jean age 85 passed away peacefully on January 27th at Greenhaven Estates Senior Home. It seemed that she was just holding on to life just to be able to see her family members throughout the day. She was brought up in the small town of Locke, California a quiet river town down by the Delta. She attended Walnut Grove grammar school and graduated at Courtland High School in 1950. She loved basketball and I was told that she was actually a pretty good player. Her teams were always making the local news paper and Jean would be listed as one of the scoring players of the team. She collected all the clippings in her scrap book of all the games and teams they played.

She married in 1952 and moved to Sacramento to start her family. A mom that was always there for her boys and made sure that birthdays were always special. Family time was precious especially when two incomes was a necessity for the times. While raising three boys she started her state career in 1953 first with Department of Motor Vehicle as a Key Operator then moved on to Department of Water Resources where she promoted to a Drafting Aid II. Her career spanned through 39-years of service, and acquired many dear friends while working for the state.

She finally retired in 1992 completing 39 years of service, to now enjoy life of retirement. Throughout her retirement she enjoyed her bowling league into her eighties and her gardening but most of all walking and hanging out with two dogs Suni and Cooper her lifetime buddies. Of course a few trips to Thunder Valley and Red Hawk, in which she was lucky enough to hit a few jackpots or two.

Health was becoming issues with dementia an unforgiven illness. So frustrating to a woman who was always so independent and always keeping busy. Even with all the problems that the illness brought on she was always worried that she was taking to much of our time. We would always reassure her it was our time to take care of her, we would say “no need to worry we’re here for you”..! Her sister and best friend Alice was always there to bring her to regular spa visits and lunches that mom always looked forward to.

Proceeded in death by her parents Father-Yun Hoy Suen and Mother-Go Shee Suen. Survived by sons Calvin Wong-(wife Cindy), Steve Wong-(wife Carol), and Allan Wong-(wife Amanda). Grand children-Jason, Jeffery, Candace, Connor, Sarah, and Michelle. Great Grand children-Jaxon and Sylis. Brother-Harold Suen-(wife Sylvia) and sister Alice Leong.

“Mom we love you and you’ll be missed by everyone”..!
