Obituary for Art B. Yamat

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather; Arcadio (Art) B. Yamat, passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday November 28, 2017. He will always be remembered as a man who loved even more than his heart could handle and who had an exceptional commitment to his family and friends. A man whom; despite his health condition, never lost his humor or spirit. He was most known as the Co-founder and President of the Macabebe/ Masantol Town Fiesta Association of Monterey County and was an active leader in the Mr. & Mrs. Club of California. As the fourth of twelve children of Domingo and Feliza Yamat, Art was born in Masantol Pampanga, Philippines on Janurary 12, 1934. He attended college at Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines where he achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Law and met his wife Rosario (Rose). In 1968 they migrated to Monterey, California where they raised their four children and where he worked for Schilling McCormick for over 30 years. Art was recognized for his many political accomplishments and was elected and served as First Counselor for the town of Masantol, Pampanga. He loved fishing, camping, dancing, and socializing but most of all he treasured spending time with his family and closest friends. He is survived by his wife Rose Yamat, children Elizabeth Soriano, Marilou Yamat, Rolly Yamat, and Robert Yamat, along with his eleven grandchildren, Alex Fernandez Jr., Christyna Cabanyog, Joseph Cabanyog, Joshua Soriano, Jacob Soriano, Natasha Yamat, Ray Bugay, Jeremy Bugay, Brian Bugay, Holli Soriano, and Lila Soriano. Arcadio was extremely loved and will be greatly missed by those whose hearts he touched deeply.
