It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the death of
Adam Najera on November 28th. He passed in his sleep in Elk
Grove, California after having said âI love youâ to his spouse,
Nohemi Najera, the love of his life for 67 years.
Adam was born in New Mexico and graduated from Lyda Patterson
Institute High School in El Paso, Texas. He joined the U.S. Navy
immediately after high school, at the height of WW II. He served in
combat in the Pacific Theater and was proud to have been a witness
to the surrender of the Japanese from his ship, the USS Pasadena,
anchored in Tokyo Bay in 1945.
After the war, Adam spent the rest of his life in Sacramento. He
started a general contracting business and built every home where
he and Nohemi would raise and nurture their children, Albert
(Barbara), Norma (Bruce), Daniel (Cristina) and Sandi (Jose). Grandpa
Adam was very proud of his grandchildren, Craig (Marie), Steven
(Celeste), Phillip (Marisol), Chris, Mario, Alesandra, Martino, and
Felicia. Great Grandchildren, Nick, Tyler, Santino, Isla and Valentina.
Adam was very fond of being called âthe old carpenterâ. He wore
the title proudly. Always building, creating, and dreaming of new
projects, he was happiest with a tool in his hands. The big strong
man that he was, Adam had the heart of a teddy bear. âTio Adamâ to
many, he was the strong, solid, heart of his extended family. Adam
will never leave us, as he will live on through the comfort, strength
and love that he brought into our lives.
A memorial service will be held at the Iglesia Emanuel Metodista,
5954 44th St. Sacramento, on Saturday 12/16/2017 at 12:00 pm.
We request that any remembrances be made to the Iglesia Emanuel
Metodista.
In lieu of flowers, or cards, the family recommends that a donation to Emmanuel United Methodist Church is very much appreciated.
